Speaker: James A. Pajk, P.E., Franklin County Deputy Engineer, Bridges and Highways
Founded in 1853, The American Society of Civil Engineers represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide and is America’s oldest national engineering society.
While eating lunch, Mr Pajk will give a presentation that will highlight ASCE’s different member advocacy programs, recent and current federal legislative issues impacting ASCE members as well as what ASCE Ohio Council provides.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Toledo where he earned his bachelor of science in Civil Engineering. Since graduating in 1990 he has worked over six years for numerous consultants and over the past 19 years for the Franklin County Engineer’s Office. He currently serves as the Deputy Design Engineer overseeing bridge and highway capital improvement projects for Franklin County. Jim is a past president for the American Society of Civil Engineers Central Ohio Section and the ASCE Ohio Council of Local Sections for which he currently serves as Treasurer. Currently he is also an ASCE Federal Advocacy Captain and recently received ASCE National’s 2016 Outstanding Civil Engineer Advocate of the Year Award. He has presented and spoken at numerous conferences and groups in regards to bridges and engineering including local professional societies and school groups, the Ohio League of Women Voters Legislative Day, Ohio Bridge Conference, CEAO Spring Bridge conference, OTEC and the PCI National Concrete Bridge Conference.
